ODNR advises taking down, cleaning bird feeders as disease continues to impact songbirds Jarrod Clay © Provided by WSYX – Columbus As a mysterious disease continues to sicken and kill Ohio songbirds, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in advising Ohioans to take down and clean their bird feeders and birdbaths.  The primary species affected by the illness at this time are blue jays, common grackles, European starlings, American robins, and house sparrows. Brown, Butler, Clark, Clermont, Delaware, Franklin, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, and Warren counties.  “These birds are coming in with neurologic signs, weakness, crusty eyes, kind of matted eyes,” Dr. Dennis Summers, the Interim-State veterinarian for the Ohio Department of Agriculture, told ABC 6.
